After reading Voltaire’s Candide this quote was stuck in my head. Maybe it’s verging on “live laugh love” tier aphorisms but it still resonates.

Candide is a very “Book of Job” type novel where the worst things happen to him, yet he still keeps faith things will work out in the end. Yes it’s satirical and Voltaire is being an asshole but he does make positive concessions, such as this quote. It makes you realize that passive suicidality is just a universal human condition.
